Reimagining Normal Blood Pressure Readings for Better Health

Have you ever thought that 120/80 was the ideal blood pressure reading? Well, think again! The latest guidelines from the ESC Association suggest that normal blood pressure should actually be 140 systolic and 90 diastolic. This update also considers specific limits for diabetics and the elderly.

In the past, a reading of 139/89 was deemed as hypertension, triggering immediate medication to prevent potential heart attacks or strokes. On the flip side, low blood pressure is classified as a reading below 90 mmHg systolic and 60 mmHg diastolic. If your blood pressure suddenly drops, consult your doctor.

However, not all low blood pressure cases are alarming. If you aren’t experiencing symptoms like irregular heartbeats, dizziness, or headaches, you might not need to worry. Understanding your personal blood pressure range is crucial, as it can aid in identifying hypertension early on. Monitoring and treating hypertension is essential to prevent serious health issues down the road.
